LGCM / Recipes / Holiday Recipes / Bourbon Ham Glaze
Enjoy this sweet and smoky glaze on your next ham and you can eat like Nick from Lake Geneva Country Meats! This is Nick’s personal favorite glaze that he uses when he makes glazes – the smoky sweetness of the bourbon is perfectly complemented by the flavors of honey and molasses. Try this recipe the next time you make ham and let us know if you have any tweaks that you think improve the recipe. Just leave a comment below to let us know what you think!
Preheat your oven to 325°F.
Mix together the bourbon, honey and molasses in a small pot until thoroughly combined.
Score the surface of your ham by cutting 1″ deep diagonal cuts into the ham in a diamond check pattern.
Place your LGCM Ham on a rack in a shallow roasting pan, spread 1/2 of the bourbon ham glaze on top, and cover the the pan with tin foil.
Bake for 10-12 minutes per pound (check the label, the weight will be on it) or until the internal temperature reaches 125°F.
When there is 30 minutes left on the calculated cooking time, remove the ham from the oven, turn the oven up to 425°F, pour 1/2 of the remaining bourbon glaze on top of the ham and return to the oven. Repeat with the remaining glaze after an additional 15 minutes.
Remove ham from oven and let rest for 15 minutes before slicing.

An underlooked grape, Albarino is best known from Spain, where it makes wines that are full bodied, aromatic and refreshing. If you like Sauvignon Blanc or Chardonnay, give this a try!
