This simple baked shrimp recipe is one of the quickest ways to get tasty shrimp on your table to enjoy!

Whether you’re enjoying the shrimp as an entrée, serving the shrimp with a steak as part of a surf & turf meal, or including shrimp in pasta or any other dish, these delicious but simple baked shrimp will be a hit.

What type of shrimp can I use to for this simple baked shrimp recipe?

You should use raw, defrosted shrimp. It’s easy to defrost shrimp by leaving them overnight in a refrigerator, or by placing them in a colander and running them under cool water for approximately 30 minutes.

This recipe will work for any size shrimp, although smaller shrimp will cook faster than larger shrimp, so keep an eye on the color of the shrimp as they cook to make sure you don’t overcook them!

We recommend any shrimp you use should be peeled & deveined before you cook them. Most people prefer the texture and flavor of peeled & deveined shrimp. Since shrimp is often served at parties, it’s nice to be able to do prep work ahead of time, and you may want to know if you can make this simple baked shrimp a day or two early.

Unfortunately for preppers, shrimp really is best when cooked fresh, so you will want to cook the shrimp as close as possible prior to serving. However, if you’re looking to get slightly ahead, you can marinate the shrimp in the seasoning mixture and store it in the refrigerator for up to 4 hours before baking.

What can I do with leftover shrimp?

While the shrimp is best immediately after being cooked, if you do have leftovers, you can store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two days, and reheat them gently in a microwave to enjoy after the the initial meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Raw Shrimp (peeled & deveined)
  • 2 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 Tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 2 clove Garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
  • Parsley (chopped for garnish if desired)

Directions

  1. Combine the olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, salt, and black pepper in a large bowl and add the shrimp to the bowl and toss until they are well coated with the seasoning mixture.

  2. Place the seasoned shrimp in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and place in an oven preheated to 400ºF.

  3. Bake in the preheated oven for about 8-10 minutes or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque, indicating that they are fully cooked.

  4. Remove from the shrimp from the oven and serve immediately or incorporate into any recipe that needs cooked shrimp.

    If desired, you can garnish with freshly chopped parsley and serve with lemon wedges to squeeze on top.
