What’s your favorite Thanksgiving food? Do you love stuffing? If you do, then this is a recipe for you! Our Pork Sausage Stuffing recipe uses our seasoned pork sausage to make a perfect pairing to your turkey. We do recommend making this recipe separately from your turkey. By baking it in the oven, you’ll make sure it is evenly cooked throughout.  Do you have any tweaks to the recipe? Did you try a different meat? This recipe is also really good with meat from any of our fresh bratwursts – like our cherry brat! Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lb White Bread (cubed)
  • 8 Tbsp Butter (1 stick)
  • 2 Onion (diced)
  • 3 rib Celery (diced)
  • 1/4 cup Sage (fresh)
  • 1 Tbsp Salt (diced)
  • 2 tsp Black Pepper (or 2 tsp. dried)
  • 1 lb Leahy’s Pork Sausage
  • 2.5 cup Chicken Broth

Directions

  1. Place the cubes of bread on a baking sheet and bake in an oven preheated to 300ºF for 10 min. Remove from oven and add bread to a 9″ x 18″ casserole dish. Increase oven temperature to 400ºF.

  2. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the butter is melted, add the diced onion and celery. Cook for 10 minutes, until softened. Once soft, add the vegetables to the bread cubes in the casserole dish.

  3. In the same skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until browned. Once crumbled and browned, drain grease from pan, and then add sausage to the casserole dish.

  4. Add the salt, pepper, and sage to the casserole dish and mix all of the ingredients together. Pour the chicken broth evenly over the top of the stuffing. Place into the oven and bake at 400ºF for 30 minutes, until the top of the stuffing is browned and the dish is warm throughout. Once done cooking, remove from oven, and serve warm with your favorite Thanksgiving dishes!
