This dish is a delicious way to use lean and flavorful beef stew meat without making a traditional beef stew. Instead of root vegetables, use freshly steamed broccoli mixed with the tasty beef broth – soy sauce – garlic sauce. To quickly steam the broccoli, just add it to a microwavable bowl with 1/2″ of water, place a lid on it, and cook for 3 minutes. It’ll turn out perfectly. We seasoned with cinnamon to give a bit of extra flavor to the dish, but if you have it on hand, use a Chinese 5 Spice blend. It’ll taste even better. Do you have tips for this recipe? Ingredients

  • 1.5 lb LGCM Beef Stew
  • 1 cup Beef Broth
  • 3/4 cup Soy Sauce
  • 2/3 Brown Sugar
  • 1 Tbsp Garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon (ground)
  • 2 Tbsp Corn Starch (or substitute Chinese Five Spice)
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 4 cup Broccoli

Directions

  1. Add the stew meat, beef broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, and ground cinnamon to the slow cooker. Mix together, and cook for 2-3 hours on high, or 6 hours on low.

  2. Mix together corn starch and cold water. Stir into the slow cooker, and cook for another 30 minutes on low.

  3. Stir the steamed broccoli into the beef and sauce. Serve the beef and broccoli over rice or noodles and garnish with toasted sesame seeds. Enjoy!
