We’re proud to announce that we won 4 awards at the 2018 Wisconsin State Fair and will be participating in the Governor’s Blue Ribbon Meat Products Meat Auction! The Wisconsin State Fair meat product competition is open to all federally and state licensed producers in the State of Wisconsin, and is judged in June. Lake Geneva Country Meats won in 4 of the 7 categories entered. The awards are:
- Whole Muscle Jerky – Grand Prize for our Teriyaki-flavored Jerky
- Bone-In Ham – 2nd place for our traditional Cured & Smoked Ham
- Flavored Bacon – 2nd place for Pepper-flavored Bacon
- Cured Specialty Meat Product – 4th place for Ultimate Bacon
The Teriyaki-flavored Jerky, Bone-In Ham, and Pepper-flavored Bacon will be auctioned off at the Governor’s Blue Ribbon Meat Products Meat Auction to benefit the Wisconsin 4-H. This annual tradition is hosted by the sitting Governor of Wisconsin and brings together meat processors, 4-H members, and corporate supporters of the 4-H. Hundreds of thousands of dollars have been raised for the 4-H through this event.
Lake Geneva Country Meats has been proud to participate in this tradition many times and be a part of the fundraising. Pictured above is the 2015 event when we were awarded the Best of Show Award for our Ultimate Bacon. That product sold for $4,000, all of which went to benefit the 4-H.
