Cajuns love seafood and even though we don’t think there are any tilapia swimming wild in the Mississippi River, this Cajun Fried Tilapia is a delicious way for you to enjoy some quick fried fish. Use enough seasoning to make this dish as spicy as you like or don’t like your fish! Serve over dirty rice with fresh vegetables and enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 4 fillet Tilapia
  • 2 Egg (beaten)
  • .5 cup Cornmeal
  • 3 Tbsp Flour
  • 2 Tbsp Vegetable Oil
  • Cajun Seasoning (to taste)

Directions

  1. Combine cornmeal, flour and Cajun seasoning in a bowl large enough to dip the fish in and mix together. Use 2 tsp. of Cajun seasoning for moderate Cajun flavor, adjust to your own taste. Put the beaten eggs in a similar size bowl.
  2. Dredge each Tilapia fillet in the seasoning mixture, then the egg mixture, then the seasoning mixture again.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium high heat. Add the breaded fillets and cook for 4 minutes per side or until the fish flakes with a fork.
  4. Remove from pan, let cool and enjoy!
