One of my favorite wine and food pairings is a juicy burger with a bottle of Bordeaux wine! Delicious, well made Bordeaux wines are available for very reasonable prices and they’re made in a style that is perfect for food pairings. Come try five different wines from Bordeaux (including some premium wines) and imagine how they’ll taste with the burgers we have on sale in our fresh meat case! This is a free wine tasting with no reservations necessary. Just come, try the wines and say hi!
Here’s a scheduled list of wines:
Chateau Larmevaille Entre-Deux-Mers – $12.99 – This is a white wine made primarily from Sauvignon Blanc, but with additional grapes blended in to make it richer than New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. This is more of a wine to drink on the patio while you cook the burgers, but we wanted to have a white wine out!
Chateau Bonnet Bordeaux Rouge – $14.99 – One of the top selling Bordeaux wines in the world, this is an even blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. It’s a balanced mix of fruit and structured which makes it perfect for burgers.
Chateau Fontbernard Montagne St. Emillion – $14.99 – This Merlot based wine has the classic soft elegance of Bordeaux wine for an absolute bargain price. It combines ripe fruits with light cedar flavors that are very enjoyable with food or on its own.
Chateau Moulin de la Bridane Saint-Julien – $34.99 – This is the only wine we’ll be tasting from the “Left Bank” of Bordeaux and the only Cabernet based wine. This is probably the biggest, most tannic of the wines we will be tasting, due to the 10% Petit Verdot added to the blend. It’s something different and very well made!
Saint Glinglin St. Emillion Grand Cru – $37.99 – Roughly translated to “when pigs fly” this is a premium quality wine made from Cabernet Franc and Merlot. The grower was told he’d never to be able to make wine in Bordeaux and well..now he is making wine! This Cabernet Franc base gives the wine a bit more aromatic and red fruit flavor while the Merlot gives it earthiness and acid to pair with burgers. Give it a try and enjoy the quality of this wine!
