This pizza pasta skillet recipe brings together pasta with delicious pizza flavors in a quick and easy one-dish recipe that both kids and adults love!
We love skillet recipes because we don’t like doing dishes (honestly, who does like doing dishes?), so only having one dish is such a bonus after dinner.
For this recipe, we used a combination of my favorite pizza toppings to make a hearty and delicious meal. You can customize the recipe to include your favorite toppings, or use up what’s in your house.
This is an easy recipe, but we’re going to provide a bit more information about the ingredients we used to make our pizza pasta skillet to help you make this recipe your own.
If you feel confident and ready to cook without more information about the ingredients, scroll down to the ingredients, and get cooking!
We used rigatoni for this recipe for two main reasons:
If you don’t have rigatoni, penne would be another good choice, or a similar pasta that allow you to enjoy a good portion of sauce in the noodle.
Almost any pasta shape will work (including spaghetti if you’d like a spaghetii pizza skillet), so you can use what’s in your pantry, but if you’re buying new pasta, we definitely recommend rigatoni!
We used pepperoni, ground beef, onion, and green pepper for our pizza pasta skillet, but this recipe is infinitely customizable. Here are a few ideas on what you could use instead, or in addition to our toppings:
Or really anything else you like on your pizza – anchovies anyone?
Yes, this recipe is great leftover, and will last three-five days in a closed container. The thick pasta and rich sauce reheat well in a microwave, and the flavors come together as they sit.
This pizza pasta skillet is a perfect recipe to bring to a party, give to someone in need of a warm, comforting meal, or leave at home for family members who don’t cook when the primary cook is out of town!

Add ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat and cook for five minutes. Season the ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder while it is cooking.
Add the onion, green pepper, and cook until the ground beef is done. Add the pepperoni and cook for one more minute.
Note – if you have lean ground beef and there is no fat in the pan, you may need to add about 1 Tbsp. of vegetable oil with the vegetables. Otherwise, use the fat from the beef to cook the vegetables.
When the ground beef is cooked, add the diced tomatoes, water, rigatoni and Italian seasoning. Stir to combine, then bring to a boil. Cover your pan, reduce heat to medium-low and cook for about 15 minutes until the pasta is done.
Check around 10 minutes for doneness if you like firmer pasta!
Remove the skillet from the heat and top with shredded mozzarella cheese. Let the cheese melt, then serve this pizza pasta skillet and enjoy all the smiles you see from the hungry crowd!
Malbec originated in France but is now best known as Argentina’s signature grape. It produces wines that are velvety smooth with rich fruit flavors.
Sangiovese (and all the other names the Italians call it by) is the grape that makes Chianti. It produces wines that have lots of acidity, plenty of earthiness and red fruit flavors.
