honoro vera rioja review
Honoro Vera is a wine produced by Gil Family Wine Estates. Gil Family Wine Estates produces a number of different brands of Spanish wine from numerous regions. All of Gil Family’s wines have striking labels, big flavors, and are produced at great prices. The Honoro Vera Rioja is the newest addition to the family, and is produced from 100% Tempranillo grapes in the Rioja area of Spain.
The Honoro Vera Rioja has plenty of fruit aromas. I smell darker fruits like blackberry and plum with maybe some chocolate notes as well. After taking a sip, you can tell this is a medium bodied wine with those big fruit flavors. In addition to the fruit flavors, there are significant spicy notes in this wine. There is a fair bit of acidity in this wine, and it finishes quite dry with lingering tannins.
Normally this wine can be found for under $10, which is a terrific price for Rioja, even a young one like this wine. It’s meant to be drank now, so pick up a bottle, and make it an every day drinker!
rioja food pairing suggestion
The Tempranillo grape that makes Rioja wines is great with meat based dishes. Try pairing a Rioja with a well seasoned pork or beef dish that has either been roasted or grilled. Here are a few suggestions to get you started:
Garlic Herb Crusted Rump Roast – pictured above, this recipe for roast beef has a yummy, garlicky crust that’ll be wonderful with the fruit in the wine.
Red Wine Marinated Tri Tip Steak – use the wine to marinate the steak, and then enjoy this super flavorful steak with the wine.
Rioja-style Pork Chops – this Spanish inspired pork dish would be great with a Rioja, heck, Rioja is even in the recipe name!
